On behalf of the members of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department I want to welcome you to the department’s new website. This new website has been made possible by the dedication and hard work of several individuals, who, without their help, this site never would have been possible. My sincere thanks go out to each of them.
The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department provides fire and Emergency Medical Services to over 3500 residents of the Town of Cheshire in a 27 square mile area. We are an all volunteer force that currently consists of 27 firefighters, 6 firefighter/EMTs, 2 EMT’s only, 7 apprentice firefighters as well as 2 junior firefighters. The department just recently created an auxiliary membership made up of townspeople that want to support the department in a variety of different ways. These auxiliary members are not firefighters or EMTs, just interested townspeople that want to help out the department in support roles. The Department runs 3 engines, a rescue, a tanker, and an EMS truck (BLS). All apparatus is housed in our headquarters building located at 29 South Street in Cheshire.
All of the department’s members are trained by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, and continually hone their skills throughout the year by attending many training classes offered by the fire academy. Members also attend a weekly drill that keeps members up to date on all the necessary skills of a firefighter with the department.
Thank you for your interest in the department and for visiting our website.
Thomas Francesconi
Chief – Cheshire Volunteer Fire Dept.
